Geocaching is a recreational activity that centers around searching for small hidden containers (usually in outdoor public areas). Containers are hidden by people who mark the locations using a GPS receiver and then post coordinates so the containers can be found by others.

To find a hidden container, you enter its coordinates into your GPS receiver as a waypoint and then use the GPS to navigate to its location.

There are several web sites devoted to geocaching and similar recreational activities where enthusiasts can obtain destination coordinates and share stories about their adventures finding them.
